Compliance Requirements

All College staff are expected to complete a range of important compliance requirements. The majority of these requirements will be issued to new staff after they commence with the College, but employment at the College is contingent on the following compliance requirements being completed before commencement of employment:

  • applicants for teaching and learning positions must be registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) and must not be a disallowed person as per the 2022 Standard VET Funding Contract.
  • non-teaching staff, including tutors, must hold, or be prepared to undergo, a Working with Children Check and National Police Record Check
  • as a child safe employer, the College requires all potential employees and volunteers to comply with the College’s Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy and Child Safety Code of Conduct. All staff new to the College are also required to sign a declaration that they have read and understood these important child safety documents.
  • under the Occupational Health and Safety Amendment (COVID-19 Vaccination Information) Regulations 2022 (Vic) we may collect information relating to a prospective or current employee’s COVID-19 vaccination status in order to satisfy our requirements under the OHS Act (to identify whether there may be a risk to the health of our staff from exposure to COVID-19 at our workplace).

Details of all requirements will be provided to new staff members as part of the employment documentation issued to them by the College.

Application Process

1. Apply

Email your application to via careers@scv.vic.edu.au, identifying the role you are applying for in the subject of your email. You should include the following:

  • Cover letter addressing any selection criteria
  • Updated resume/curriculum vitae (CV)

 

All applications submitted prior to the closing date will receive an acknowledgement email.

2. Applications reviewed and short listed

A selection committee will review your application against the position requirements.

This process usually happens within 14 days of the application closing date however, this period may vary.

3. Interviews

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview. The interview process may consist of a phone interview and face-to-face interviews.  At the face-to-face interviews there will be the opportunity to ask questions to the selection panel and provide additional supplementary material to support your application.

4. Background Screening

Our screening process includes but is not limited to online searches and obtaining at least two references from recent managers or supervisors.  All non-teaching roles will also undergo police checks.  In addition, all staff will be required to provide proof of identity and academic qualifications.

5. Offer

The successful candidate will typically receive a verbal offer of employment initially. They will then receive a written employment contract which they are expected to sign prior to commencement to formally accept the offer of employment.

6. Unsuccessful Applicants

Unsuccessful applicants will be advised in writing as soon as is practicable and encouraged to apply again in the future if there is a suitable role.
