Students develop elite training habits through specialised training sessions and individualised strength and conditioning programs. The HPP is designed to complement a student’s involvement in their elite sporting pathways whilst supporting the completion of their Senior Secondary Education.

Our VCAL is organised around areas of study. The flexibility in the delivery of the VCAL strands allows us to design an integrated curriculum aligned to student interests.
Develop a personal budget based on your first contract and relocate overseas or interstate to begin your professional sporting career in a real life simulation of a year in the life of a professional athlete. Real life application of numeracy skills is the emphasis of this area of study as you plan the budget of a high-performance camp for a group of elite athletes and consolidate your mathematical skills in designing a high-performance facility.
Become an expert on the high-performance habits of athletes and apply these to a 14-day challenge. Set goals, develop solutions to barriers, select motivational leadership strategies and manage the resources required to increase your power, stamina, speed, and endurance.
Sporting performance enhancement is the objective, so reflecting on where you end up after 14 days is critical to evaluating the impact of high-performance habits on your own performance.
SEDA College aims to develop a student’s physical and mental wellbeing to cope with the things that life throws at them. With a strong literacy focus, Healthy Living involves students investigating respectful relationships, drugs and alcohol, safe partying and social inclusion all of which aim to better equip students within our current society.
Through MyPLAN meetings, the work that students do within the Areas of Study and on Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) placements, students will explore career pathways in real work settings and acquire transferrable skills that employers value. Students explore the value of volunteering, while building their resume and connecting with key professionals in their chosen industry. SWL provides students with a hands-on learning experience one day a week starting from Term 2. Students gain an in-depth understanding of the duties they might be expected to perform in the workplace.
Understand the influence of sport in the community and how it can shape culture, behaviour and bring people together. Link with community groups to organise and run community projects and activities. Through the integration of the VCAL Personal Development and Literacy strands students will work in groups, developing their collaborative, problem solving and teamwork skills as they put their ideas into action.
Develop the skills and attributes needed to teach sport skills to a wide variety of people. Access SEDA’s industry experts and sporting partners to gain a greater understanding of coaching principles and the development of coaching sessions. In Year 11 and Year 12 students undertake VET qualifications in sport and recreation, providing the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of areas within the industry.
The College combines its expert knowledge with unrivalled AFL industry networks, where we connect your education to the AFL industry, as well as developing your High-Performance Plan that is designed to improve your football. We focus on you in the following areas:
Students will have access to a range of leading professionals in their sport to support their athletic and sporting development. A strong focus is placed on providing them with the necessary skills and knowledge to embed elite training habits and standards in their preparation, approach to training, games, and recovery.
Students will be monitored and tracked through the use of an Athlete Management System. This ensures their wellbeing remains at the forefront of their time in the HPP program and allows for training loads to be adjusted and customised through individualised strength and conditioning programs.

Selection into SEDA College’s programs is based on an online application and interview process.
To be eligible for the AFL Victoria High Performance program, applicants must demonstrate a high level of playing ability and meet one of the following criteria to automatically qualify for a position:

Students who apply for the program will be required to provide documentation at their interview that details their involvement in one of the criteria listed above.
Entry – 2021
Individuals must be born between 01/01/03 – 30/04/05 and must have successfully completed Year 10 or equivalent.
Entry – 2022
Individuals must be born between 01/01/04 – 30/04/06 and must have successfully completed Year 10 or equivalent.
Entry – 2023
Individuals must be born between 01/01/05 – 30/04/07 and must have successfully completed Year 10 or equivalent.
